Roots blower is a typical positive displacement blower, which converts the mechanical energy added by the prime mover into the pressure and kinetic energy of gas by changing the rotor volume. Roots blower is widely used in factories. Due to the large noise generated by the blower, which worsens the working conditions and pollutes the living environment, it has increasingly attracted people's attention to fan noise. On the basis of synthesizing various application examples, various noise reduction methods are proposed.
The noise of Roots blower mainly comes from mechanical noise, electromagnetic noise and airflow noise. Mechanical noise is caused by the operation of gears and bearings inside the machine, the vibration of the machine body, plus friction and impact. The air flow noise is caused by the rotating blades in the fan squeezing the air and driving the air flow to form a turbine. Among these factors, the intensity of air flow noise is higher, which is more harmful to human body. Installation of silencer: in general, the aerodynamic noise radiated from the air inlet and exhaust of the fan is 10-20 dB higher than that radiated from other parts. Therefore, when controlling the fan noise, appropriate silencers should be installed on the air inlet and exhaust pipes first.

Establish sound insulation cover: adopt sound insulation cover measures, that is, enclose the whole fan unit with a closed sound insulation cover. The sound insulation effect is good, but the use of closed sound insulation cover will cause heat dissipation problems of the unit. The main cooling methods are: self fan ventilation cooling, negative pressure suction cooling, air circulation ventilation cooling inside the hood and external mechanical ventilation cooling.
Rebuilding the fan room: if the fan unit has a special fan room, the existing fan room can be transformed into a sound insulation room based on the site conditions. Namely, the fan is enclosed in the fan room so that its noise cannot be transmitted. The main technical measures are sound insulation doors, sound insulation windows, sound insulation screens and walls, and the application of appropriate sound absorption materials.
Pipe binding: In order to reduce the noise radiated from the fan duct, the pipe can be bound to isolate the way of noise transmission. Vibration isolation: considering factors such as safety, stability and easy maintenance, appropriate vibration isolators are designed to eliminate rigid connections between machines and units, so as to reduce solid vibration noise. It is also possible to dig a shockproof trench to replace the foundation vibration isolation, which can achieve certain results.
