The operating requirements of Roots blower are that the temperature of the conveyed inlet medium shall not be higher than 40 ℃, and the content of particulate impurities in the medium shall not be greater than 1000mg/m³, The maximum particle size shall be less than 0,1mm. When boosting, the rated boosting value specified on the blower nameplate shall not be exceeded. Due to the special structure of Roots blower, there are many differences between Roots blower and other fans in operation requirements, which must be noted.

① Before starting Roots blower, the following preparations shall be made:

② Fully open the inlet control valve, outlet control valve and bypass pipe;

③ Check whether the air inlet filter is unblocked and whether the filter inlet is fully opened;

④ Check whether pipes, valves, mufflers and air filter supports are stable, and no load shall be applied to the casing;

⑤ Check whether the lubricating oil is in good condition, whether the model is appropriate, whether the lubricating oil layer depth should reach 3~5cm above the specified oil line, and whether the cooling water system is unblocked;

⑥ Move the coupling and check whether the impeller is flexible and free from friction and collision;

⑦ Check whether all parts are well connected and loose;

⑧ Remove the surrounding sundries and keep no sundries within two meters of the fan;

⑨ Check whether the electrical part and the step-down starting equipment are in good condition;

⑩ Check whether the maintenance tools are complete and whether the fire-fighting equipment is sufficient and complete.

After the above nine tasks are completed, you can start the machine. When roots blower is started, it shall first run for 20-30 minutes without load, and observe whether the blower is abnormal. In case of collision or friction sound, it shall stop immediately for inspection and troubleshooting. After the empty machine runs normally, start the load machine. After the fan operates normally, gradually adjust the outlet valve (or gradually close the vent valve), gradually load it to the rated pressure, but do not overload it. It is absolutely forbidden to close all the gate valves at the air inlet and outlet when starting up, and it is also forbidden to stop suddenly when the machine is fully loaded.

Shutdown

The normal shutdown of Roots blower is to first open the bypass pipe for venting, and then cut off the power supply after the air pressure drops (basically zero), and then close the inlet valve and cooling water system. In case of abnormal shutdown, the bypass pipe shall be opened first for venting

During maintenance and normal operation, check the temperature of bearing, lubricating oil in oil tank, motor, etc. every 1-2 hours, and it shall not be higher than the specified value. Roots blower makes a lot of noise during operation. In order to reduce the noise, some simple methods can also be used to reduce the noise, such as underground cavern method, in addition to installing silencer. Dig a 4~5m3 underground cave, cover the cave and seal it, use one conduit to lead the air inlet into the cave, and use another conduit to lead the outside air into the cave. The two conduits should be stepped into the bottom of the cave as far as possible to reduce a lot of noise.

The lubricating oil of Roots blower shall be replaced once every 3-6 months or filtered with copper wire mesh with hole diameter less than 50 μ m. After the first start, the working time is up to 200 hours, and the oil should be changed. The muffler should also be overhauled once every six months or so, and some or all of the sound absorbing materials should be replaced. The air filter shall be maintained frequently, and the inlet and outlet valves and bypass pipes shall be kept in good condition. Repair the problem immediately.
