Roots blower maintenance, which parts of Roots blower are prone to high temperature

Source: Roots blower manufacturer Published on: January 14, 2022 Hits:
As we all know, bearings are the main link of fan operation. If they have problems, roots fan will fail during operation. Similarly, if the temperature is too high, the fans will be severely worn or even burned. Therefore, the bearing temperature must be kept below the appropriate temperature. Install the filter, oil return pipe and air filter, fill the oil tank with oil to 3/4 of the oil tank, and tighten the oil pointer.
The oil source of Roots blower is one of the main purposes of their work. In addition to the relevant mechanical energy, this component is the main condition to facilitate the work. However, if they are too high in temperature, it will not only reduce the quality of the project, but also cause damage to the fan. Therefore, the temperature of the oil source must be maintained.
The main engine of Roots blower is the heart part for manufacturing compressed air, with high processing precision and low running noise, but the motor is not resistant to moisture. Please be sure to keep the motor dry, and note that the motor rotation direction should be consistent with the fan rotation direction sign.
The air filter will play an important role in bringing clean air into the fan. Once dust and dirt enter the host, it will wear the fan, dirty the engine oil, and shorten the life of the fan. Unplug the oil return pipe from the base, drain the oil and water from the main engine and the air chamber, remove the air filter, quickly rotate the fan pulley in the positive direction by hand for about 10 revolutions, slowly pour oil into the air inlet, and constantly rotate the rotary fan pulley in the positive direction to drain all cleaning oil.

Which part of Roots blower is prone to high temperature?

In order to fundamentally solve the problem of high current and high bearing temperature of Roots blower, we carried out a disassembly inspection. Before the disassembly inspection, we found the causes from the blower itself, and speculated that there might be four possibilities: (1) The internal clearance of the blower changed, and the impeller may have slight friction with the wallboard, leading to high output and high current of the blower, The heat generated by friction is transferred to the bearing, resulting in bearing heating; (2) The bearing itself has problems; (3) The large clearance fit between the bearing and the shaft as well as the bearing chamber causes serious heating; (4) The quality of lubricating oil in the bearing chamber is poor, and the oil film cannot be formed during the high-speed operation of the bearing. The bearing roller has slight dry friction, which causes serious heating.
Spraying treatment was carried out on the worn parts of the shaft. After spraying, the tight fit between the inner ring of the bearing and the shaft was 0.02mm. Although the bearing was not damaged, two sets of C0 clearance bearings from FAG manufacturer and two sets of NU324 bearings were still replaced from the perspective of long-term operation. The grease inside the bearing chamber was replaced again. The oil seal of the bearing box skeleton was aging after enduring long-term high temperature, All of them were replaced with fluororubber materials to ensure no lubricating oil leakage during operation. The internal clearance of Roots blower was readjusted. The measured parts are shown in Figure 1. a1 is the clearance between the driven wheel impeller and the front wall panel, a2 is the clearance between the driving wheel impeller and the front wall panel, b1 is the clearance between the driven wheel impeller and the rear wall panel, b2 is the clearance between the driving wheel impeller and the rear wall panel, c1 is the clearance between the driving wheel impeller and the housing, C2 is the clearance between the driven wheel impeller and the housing, d1 is the clearance between the impellers when the driving wheel is the power wheel, and d2 is the clearance between the impellers when the driven wheel is the power wheel.
D1: measured value when driving wheel is power wheel; D2: measured value when driven wheel is power wheel. After the assembly of Roots blower, we aligned the center of the blower. Considering that the temperature of the impeller and shaft is high during the operation of the blower, the thermal expansion of the blower is larger than that of the motor, and the blower is slightly lower than that of the motor. At the same time, it is an upper opening. Considering that the speed of the motor is 980r/min, the alignment results need to control the radial and axial errors within 0.10 mm, The center alignment dial indicator frame is installed on Roots blower, and the final alignment result: the radial deviation of the blower compared with the motor is 0.05mm, the blower is lower than the motor, and the axial error is 0.07mm, which is the upper opening, meeting the alignment requirements.
I believe that after reading the above contents, you should also have a better understanding of which parts of Roots blower are prone to high temperature. I hope it will be helpful to you.
