Brief Discussion on Precautions for Roots Blower Maintenance

Source: Roots blower manufacturer Published on: February 17, 2022 Hits:

Roots blower When the bearing temperature of is normal, it is ≤ 70 ℃. If it rises to 70 ℃, an alarm will be given if there is an electric control. At this time, the reason should be found out. First, check whether the cooling water is normal? Is the bearing oil level normal? If the cause cannot be found for a while, the bearing temperature rises rapidly to 90 ℃, and if there is an electric control, the alarm and shutdown signal shall be sent again.

During disassembly, in addition to the complete preparation of disassembly tools and materials, for Roots blower conveying gas or other harmful gases, the gates in the inlet and outlet pipes should be closed tightly first, and blind plates should be plugged if necessary. If the inlet and outlet are downward, water can be poured into the lower pipe for water sealing. The water level injected shall be high enough to ensure that the harmful gas in the pipeline does not leak into the workplace. When disassembling the roots blower lubricated by pressure oil supply, the lubricating oil shall be drained and filtered before cooling, and then the flange connecting the oil pipe and the engine body shall be disconnected. When lifting the upper casing or rotor, keep it in a horizontal position to avoid damaging the parts. The casing longitudinal joint surface of multistage roots blower shall not be disassembled. If it is a cast iron casing discharging hot gas, the casing can only be lifted after it is cooled inside. Before removing the sliding bearing, measure the clearance of the bushing and thrust surface. Measure the seal clearance before removing the seal.

Precautions for removal of roots blower during maintenance:
1. All parts of Roots blower shall not be contaminated with dirt and impurities.
2. All pipe orifices and openings shall be sealed during maintenance. All tools and parts shall not be placed on roots blower to avoid falling into manhole.
3. Be very careful when removing bearings, seals and rotor components. The internal parts with labyrinth must be carefully disassembled and kept.
4. The stud bolt may have sharp threads, so it should be carefully screwed.
5. Before starting maintenance work, be sure to cut off the power supply and close the fuel valve, steam valve, etc. of the driving equipment (such as steam turbine).
6. If it is necessary to check and replace the sliding bearing, thrust bearing and inner seal, it is not necessary to remove the upper half housing of Roots blower.
7. When reassembling roots blower, all matching parts, locating pins and matching keys must be matched according to their assembly marks to ensure correct assembly. All matching halves of the deflector shall be numbered, and the same number shall be written on the corresponding part of the shell. During reassembly, attention must be paid not to confuse the deflectors.
8. Gaskets and round sealing rings are of great significance for the good performance of Roots blower. Therefore, strict inspection must be carried out, and even if extremely minor defects are found, new ones should also be replaced.
9. If Roots blower is used to deliver oxygen, petrochemical gas or high-pressure air, all parts must be cleaned according to the manufacturer's regulations.
10. Whenever removing roots blower and replacing parts, check and record all problems for future reference.
Precautions for disassembling coupling of roots blower during maintenance:
1. If the coupling is equipped with a common protective cover (the coupling filled with grease), remove the socket head cap screws for assembly and remove the protective cover from the unit.
2. If the coupling is fully closed (continuous lubrication coupling), observe whether the protective cover is free floating or semi fixed (that is, fixed at one end). The removal method of the pipe leading to the protective cover can be determined at will. Be careful not to damage or bend the oil supply pipe. After the protective cover is removed, the unused oil drain and oil supply pipe ends should be blocked. At this time, the coupling can be disassembled.
3. Carefully check the assembly marks of the coupling connecting sleeve and gear sleeve, gear sleeve and gear hub. Fasten the sling to the sleeve and tighten it. And carefully do:
① Remove the bolts at both ends of the gear sleeve and the connecting sleeve, check whether the designated parts of the bolts have numbers, and then screw the nuts on the removed bolts again.
② Push the gear sleeve back onto the shaft and carefully lift the connecting sleeve. The connecting sleeve shall be protected from corrosion and properly kept.
4. If it is a key coupled structure, loosen the countersunk fastening screw of the coupling lock nut, and remove the lock nut with a wrench of appropriate size. Remove the coupling gear hub from the main shaft with a extractor. All parts of the coupling shall be protected from corrosion and stored in a proper place. The inner hole and gear teeth of the coupling gear hub shall be protected to avoid damage.
5. After the coupling gear hub is removed, reinstall the lock nut, wrap the tapered shaft end with leather sleeve or gasket material, and bind it with tape or iron wire.
The above is the precautions for the maintenance of Roots blower. I believe you will understand it after reading it. I hope it will help you.
